A good under eye concealer is essential, but boy, are they hard to come by. We have high expectations of our concealers, and expect them to banish dark circles and any traces of sleep deprivation . So when we discover one we like, we tend to remain fairly loyal to it.
The Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer and It Cosmetics’ Bye Bye Undereye concealers are the only cover ups we’ve ever been completely satisfied with and repurchased. However, we’ve happily added a new addition to our undereye concealer arsenal. We’re talking about the Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Concealer.
Building the courage to stray from our trusty favourites, we decided to try, and have fallen head over heels for the Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Concealer (light-medium). Unlike some other pot concealers, it is forgiving on dehydrated skin. The creamy formula is easily blended in with the warmth of your fingers, vanishing from view and taking dark circles with it. The light-weight concealer brightens and conceals, with natural, buildable coverage good enough to disguise blemishes too.
As the name alludes, the concealer is enriched with a mixture of several coloured clays, each addressing separate skin concerns. Rose clay soothes the undereye while yellow clay evens out the skin tone and reduces the appearance of dark circles, and purple clay reflects light and brightens the eyes. The CC concealer also contains a whole host of other ingredients that will leave your under eye looking flawless:
- Caffeine: improves microcirculation and reduces puffiness
- Licorice extract: brightens your eyes
- Sodium hyaluronate and squalene: hydrates and retains the skin’s natural moisture
- Mica and silica: diffuses light and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
The concealer has been a quick-fix to cheat a well rested night, counteracting dark circles and leaving a subtle brightening effect. It’s only early days, but we’re confident this bag banisher will remain in our exclusive concealer stash for quite some time!
As with any other concealer, be sure to keep the skin around your eyes moisturised and well hydrated to avoid dry skin and product clinging around the eyes.
What do you use to disguise dark circles?
