It has been a while since we’ve done a favourites post, so today we thought we’d round up the products we’re currently hearting from the drugstore.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in True Ivory*

We have been devoted users of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation for years. The original formula is hydrating and lightweight, the perfect everyday foundation. So when we saw that Rimmel had re-formulated one of our holy grail products, we were both excited and wary. We do not see any fault with the original formula, so we weren’t keen on the idea of it being tampered with! There are so many trusty, cult products that have  been unsuccessfully re-formulated, so the last thing we wanted was for one of our fail-proof bases to be taken away from us. Luckily, the new formula is just as good as the original! Like its predecessors, the new Wake Me Up foundation leaves the skin with a lit from within glow. Thanks to the addition of radiance pearls, this foundation gives the skin an extra dewy finish which is a god send in the cold, drier months. The lightweight product is blendable and breathable, and according to Rimmel, the new “anti-fatigue” formula features a vitamin C complex to help protect the skin from environmental aggressors. SPF 20 also makes this an ideal base for the day, protecting your skin while providing just the right amount of coverage. If you’ve been following us on Instagram,  you’ll know that the Wake Me Up Foundation has been our ride or die, and we’re certain that it will continue to feature in our daily makeup routine for weeks to come.

Maybelline Lip Studio Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint*

As the name suggests, these lip paints are ridiculously pigmented. Every shade packs a vibrant punch with a little product going a long way. The Color Jolts’ non-drying formula is one of the qualities that have made this product a staple in our bags at the peak of the cold season. Unlike other lip paints, these new offerings from Maybelline don’t bleed into the creases of our lips! We’ve been particularly fond of the shades Talk Back red and Never Bare. The first is a gorgeous orange-red that screams “look at me”. It’s also our desperate attempt at fooling ourselves into thinking it is Spring or Summer. Never Bare is a nude, my lips but better shade that we’ve been reaching for like crazy. It’s a great option for those looking for a little something, something that is subtle.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara*

We’re fans of layering mascaras, especially as we have yet to find the perfect all rounder that both lengthens and volumises. For volume in the last few weeks, we’ve been obsessed with Rimmel London Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara. Paired with our Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara (review), the combination leaves our lashes looking long and thick. The dense brush makes it easy to coat every lash with product, maximising volume to every corner. The mascara adds volume without weighing down our lashes and compromising curl.

NYX Makeup Setting Spray- Matte*

We’ve discovered some gem setting sprays from the drugstore in the last year or so, including this beauty from NYX. With such an affordable price tag, some might overlook the product, but the spray has slowly acquired cult status. The setting spray does not totally mattify our makeup, but it locks everything in, keeping it intact from the am to home time. The spray does have a slight scent, but nothing too offensive or over-powering. Instead of plain old H2O, we like to use the setting spray to wet our makeup sponges as well as spritzing it on our faces once everything is on and good to go. We’re actually keen to try the dewy version of the setting spray now. Let us know if you have tried the dewy formula in the comments.
