It’s no surprise that we are fans of Rimmel’s Only 1 Lipstick collection (review). They were among our 2016 Most Reached for Lipsticks, and now on the back of the success of the original collection, Rimmel have just launched a new matte range.
The Only 1 Matte* collection boasts everything we love about the original range, plus some. There are 9 available shades with our favourites being Call the Shots, High Flyer and Salute. The latter is our perfect MLBB ( My Lips But Better) shade and one we’ll definitely be keeping in our makeup bags this month. Unlike some collections that tend to favour certain shades, this latest offering from Rimmel has the entire spectrum covered. There are your no-makeup makeup nudes, loud pinks, bold reds, and even a fun violet shade. The staying power and colour pay off of the matte formulas are just as impressive as its satin predecessors. From the swatches, you can see that each lipstick offers true to bullet colour with one coat sufficient for an opaque finish. The finish of the lipsticks is similar to the NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks in that they feel velvety once they’ve dried down. This along with the hydrating formula makes the lipsticks a comfortable matte option which won’t leave your lips feeling parched. There is also no bleeding into the creases of the lips which is one of the main pet peeves we have with many of the matte lip products out there.

Overall, we definitely rate the Only 1 Matte lipsticks. In terms of pigmentation, longevity, hydration, shade range and comfort, this new range really does out perform many of it’s fellow matte lippies. So if your’e fans of the original Only 1 Lipsticks, or love yourself a matte lip, then these lipsticks are worth a try.
