Along with earlier sunsets and the drop in mercury, dry lips are another one of Winter’s many woes. Unfortunately we can’t do much about the weather, but we are going to share how we treat our lips to the TLC they crave and deserve.
We’re just as lazy as we are busy, so our lip care routine does not involve an awful lot of products nor steps. Our main tips are to:
Exfoliate with a gentle scrub. We use Lush’s Santa’s Lip Scrub from last year’s Christmas collection once a week to remove flaky skin.
Hydrate particularly post exfoliating, but also between wearing other lip products. We’ve been slathering Lush’s All Purpose Ultra Balm all over and lips (and other dry spots) since picking it up from their QVB store. The Candelilla wax and jojoba oil, locks in moisture and keeps our kissers soft and supple.
Prepare your lips for colour with a creamy lip pencil. We use In the nude by Essence to define our lips, but have found that it doubles as somewhat of a primer, extending the longevity of our lip products, but also minimising the appearance of dry lips’ annoying sidekicks – fine lines and wrinkles.
Pout with a bold lip. The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm* in Striking is definitely not for the faint-hearted, but it’s once we’ve been quite fond of wearing with our more subdued winter wardrobe.
How do you tend to your pout during winter?
